OBITUARY Nona Arnita Helms February 11, 1943 – December 29, 2018 Nona (Roberts) Helms beheld the face of our Lord while on a family Christmas vacation to Angel Fire, New Mexico. Her worn out earthly body breathed its last labored breath at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque while being cradled safely in the arms of her daughters. Nona was a graduate of Marion High School in Lake Charles.

In 1977, she married the love of her life, Jerald Helms, and their individual families became one. Nona was an active member of the Sweetlake United Methodist Church for over 40 years. She loved gardening, being outdoors, being a mother, a grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She also had a black belt in shopping. Not only can we imagine Nona fell to her knees in His presence, but a much anticipated reunion also surely took place between she and Jerald who left her only to be with the Lord 130 days prior; A love so strong that not even death could separate them. Nona is survived by her children; Kim Allison-Hebert, Julie Allison-Woodcock (Lloyd), Cindy Helms-Pedersen (Mark), Thomas Helms and Susan Helms-Cart (Rusty).

She has 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceeded in death by her parents, the late Charlie and Lucille Freeman, her siblings; Emmitt Roberts, Tommy Roberts, Maurice Eanes, Jimmy “Stack” Roberts and her beloved grandson Matthew Gilles LeBlanc. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5pm – 9pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.

Visitation will resume Friday, January 4, 2019 at 8am until time of service. Funeral services will be at 11am with Rev. Ed Lemeke and Rev.
