Norma A. (Albert) Oplinger, 94, of Vandergrift, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 1, 1924 in Vandergrift, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Essay) Albert. Norma was primarily a homemaker and grandmother who lived in Vandergrift all her life.

She worked in the cafeteria for a short period of time for the Kiski Area High School. Norma was a member of St. Paul’s Highfield Lutheran Church in Parks… Read More » Township. She enjoyed playing bingo, going on casino trips, working on word search books, and bowling.

Norma most loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford T. “Cliff” Oplinger, who passed away on July 25, 2012; granddaughter, Brittany Hansen; sisters, Annie Hanna, Rosemary Karafinski, Irene Kerr; brothers, Samuel “Shy”, Ben, Willie, and Ralph F. “Sub”, and Fiack Albert, Eddie and Albert Essay. Norma is survived by her children, Samuel “Sam” (Barbara) Oplinger of Irwin; Letti (Alan) Mikula of Vandergrift; Patty (Michael) Hepler of Vandergrift; Janice Oplinger-Hansen of Allegheny Township; James Oplinger of Oklahoma Borough; William (Jacquelyn) Oplinger of Allegheny Township; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 10-11 A.M. in St. Paul’s Highfield Lutheran Church 1595 Dime Road, Vandergrift, PA 15690 where services will begin at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ryan Pusch officiating. Entombment in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Norma’s memory to the church at the above address.

The Oplinger family would like to thank Norma’s caregivers, Cynthia Fails, Tanya Tillman, and Three Rivers Hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Brady-Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 429 Franklin Ave. Vandergrift, PA.
