Norma E. Meek, age 97, of Annandale, died Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Annandale Care Center. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Timothy Nerud officiating.

Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Norma Evelyn Meek was born March 11, 1921 on the family farm near Fulda, Minnesota to John and Eliese (Pfingsten) Koopman.

While growing up on the farm, Norma graduated from Fulda High School. She was united in marriage to Calvin Rupp on October 16, 1941 in Fulda. On February 6, 1955, Norma was united in marriage to Carroll Merrill Meek in Minneapolis.

In addition to raising her five children, Norma held various secretarial jobs, starting at the Murray County Courthouse in Slayton, Minnesota. She also sold Mary Kay Cosmetics for a number of years. During the summer months, Norma worked as a cook at Camp Courage and Camp Friendship.

In addition to their time in Richfield, and Burnsville, Norma and Carroll also lived on Clearwater Lake and Mille Lacs Lake. They returned to Annandale in 1997 upon Carroll’s retirement. Norma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, LWML, and Sweet Adelines of Richfield.

In her spare time, Norma enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing, bowling, and completing crossword puzzles. She liked to cook, with fish and chicken amongst the favorites of her family. Music was also a special interest of Norma’s, whether it be playing the organ or singing.

Above all, Norma treasured the time she was able to spend with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Norma is survived by her children, Larry (Sarah) Rupp of Eagle, ID, Douglas Rupp of Slayton, MN, Cheryl Edwards of Annandale, Steven (Cindy) Rupp of Mankato, and Laurel (Mark) Miller of Annandale; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; siblings, Adelbert Koopman of Fulda, and Lorraine Clapp of Alberta, Canada; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Koopman of Little Falls, Kathryn Koopman of Roswell, New Mexico, and Gerda Koopman of Litchfield; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carroll, brothers Marvin, Henry, Lester, Vernon, and Wilbert Koopman, and sisters Marie Ommen and Wilma Farmer.

Norma’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Cindy, Chris, Adam, and Erica Rupp and Rev. Ken Tatkenhorst will provide music for the service.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
