OBITUARY Norma Jean (Short) Mason November 30, 1925 – September 14, 2018 Norma Jean (Short) Mason, 92, died peacefully Friday, September 14, 2018 at her home. The daughter of the late Alva and Golda (Staley) Short, Norma was born November 30, 1925 in Rose Hill, Illinois. She had worked as a bookkeeper and later as a teacher’s aide.

Norma was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, and was a Master Gardner and member of the Botanical Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Neil Mason, Sr.; daughter, Jo Anna Mason; and siblings, Bernice Field, Carl Short, and Clella French. Survivors include her son, John Neil Mason, Jr.; and sister, Maxine Wooden.

Visitation will be 12:30 pm ~ 1:30 pm Sunday (eastern daylight time) at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany and from 11 am ~ 1 pm Monday (central time) at Crane Funeral Home, 304 S. Van Buren Street, Newton, Illinois. There will be a Funeral Service at 1 pm Monday (central time) at Crane Funeral Home followed by burial next to her husband in Riverside Cemetery in Newton, Illinois.
