OBITUARY Norma Nell Smith October 12, 1928 – October 8, 2018 Norma Nell Smith passed away October 07, 2018 at Park Plaza in San Angelo, Texas at the bright bold age of 89. Norma was born October 12, 1928, to parents Luke E. and Erna Darby Wilson at 1025 Koberlin Street in San Angelo, Tx. She was born in her grandparents (Will and Clara Darby’s) new home and lived there till age 15.

She graduated high school in May, 1946 from San Angelo High School. She began working September, 1946, with San Angelo Telephone Company, and they sold out to General Telephone. Norma retired after 25 years with the company.

Norma and Bill H. Smith married July 9, 1982, and lived in Highland Range addition until December, 1986. They moved to Kingland on LBJ Lake and built a new home in Bridgepoint addition. Their home was the first built in the new addition.

Bill passed away July 22, 1995, and Norma sold and moved to Rio Concho West September, 1996. She loved living at RCW. Norma had a variety of hobbies.

She loved gardening, reading, embroidery and loved to send cards and notes to friends. Her happiest time was spent doing things for others. She was baptized May, 1941, at Harris and Irving Street Church of Christ.

Norma then placed membership at West Angelo Church of Christ upon returning to San Angelo. A visitation will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home on Tuesday October 09, 2018 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 with minister Greer Willis presiding over the service.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, and a very special nephew, Steven Wayne McRee, October, 1985. She is survived by sister, Mary G. McRee of San Antonio, Tx, son, Ron Spears of San Angelo, Tx, daughter, Barbara Jane, stepson and wife, Horace and Sharon Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada, nephew, Leo E. McRee Jr., of San Antonio, Tx, 3 step-granddaughters and several great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Hospice of San Angelo, Alzheimer’s Association & Leukemia Awareness Association.

FAMILY Will Darby, Grandfather Clara Darby, Grandmother Luke E. Wilson, Father Erna Darby Wilson, Mother Bill H. Smith, Husband Steven Wayne McRee, Nephew Ron Spears, Son Horace Smith and wife Sharon, Step-Son Barbara Jane, Daughter Mary G. McRee, Sister Leo E. McRee Jr., Nephew Norma also leaves 3 step-granddaughters and several great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
