Obituary for Norman Celestine Schue Norman Celestine Schue, 82, of Ferdinand passed away Saturday October 6th at his home. Norman was born September 27, 1936 in Mariah Hill to Paul & Catherine (Vaeth) Schue. He was united in marriage to Leona Kitten on January 10, 1959 in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Norman was a retired coal miner & farmer. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church, and its St. Joseph’s Sodality. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Santa Claus Legion Post 242.

Norman was a member of the Mariah Hill Y.M.I. and was a former 4-H leader. He was awarded the 2010 Conservation Farmer of the Year. He enjoyed his farm, dogs, children & grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Leona (Kitten) Schue, sons, Paul (Jenell) Schue of Huntingburg, Scott (Gina) Schue of Evansville, Jeff Schue of Dale, and Eric (Audra) Schue of Jasper. Daughters, Norma (Michael) Kreilein of Jasper, Valerie Hassfurther of Ferdinand, Audrey (Scott) Fischer of Jasper and Gayla Sliwa of Cicero. Fifteen grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and eight step great-grandchildren.

Three sisters, Sue Reynolds and Paulita Pund both of Mariah Hill and Nellie (Fred) Ebert of Ferdinand. Norman was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Schue, two brothers, John & Leo Schue and a sister Sylvia Obermeier. A Mass of Christians burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday October 11th in Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church.

Burial with military graveside rites conducted jointly by the Santa Claus and Ferdinand Legions will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand from 2:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday and from 7:00 – 9:30 AM on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ferdinand Church or a favorite charity.
