Obituary for Oma Lea Sutton Mize OMA LEA SUTTON MIZE Oma Lea Sutton Mize, 85, passed into the Lord’s loving hands on June 29, 2018. She was born on July 31, 1932 in Mountain View, Arkansas and was baptized at the age of 12. She was the third of six children of Clarence and Florence Sutton.

Oma attended Mountain View High School where she was valedictorian and played on the basketball team where she was known as “Sporty”. She married William (“Dub”) C. Mize Jr. in 1950 with whom she had four children. Dub adored her and knew he would marry her the moment he first set eyes on her.

Oma enjoyed working with numbers and became a full-charge bookkeeper working at Air Research, General Electric and Porta-Stall. She was a volunteer for the City of Mesa Police Department. She was also an avid basketball fan who could tell you everything about the players.

Family and friends loved her home cooking and there was always a fight over who would get the leftovers. She loved spending time with her daughters whom were also her best friends. The memories are irreplaceable.

We love you mom always and forever. Oma is survived by daughters Jo-Ann Cleveland (Tracy) of Mesa and Linda DeBruin (Jerry) of Gilbert; sisters Vida Teague and Faye Luther of Mountain View, Arkansas and Loetta Williams (Fred) of Dumas, Arkansas; brother Kenneth Sutton (Janice) of Mountain View, Arkansas; and grandchildren William C. Mize IV of Long Beach California, Wesley C. Mize of Placerville, California and Dylan J. DeBruin of Gilbert, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (“Dub”) C. Mize Jr., and sons William (“Bill”) Carroll Mize III and Daniel Clarence Mize; a sister Avice Bangs (Bill); and parents Andrew Clarence Sutton and Florence Martin Sutton.

A memorial service will be held at Meldrum Mortuary on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust which supports ill, injured and wounded veterans.
