OBITUARY Opal Frances Larotonda March 10, 1928 – November 1, 2018 Opal choose to share her Light on this this planet from March 10, 1928 through November 1, 2018. Born to Russel Raymond and Sylvia Alfreda Fouts in Greybull, Wyoming, she came into this world with strawberry blond hair, an incredible laugh and an unstoppable will. The youngest of six children, and the last to depart, she shared the joys and sorrows of this life with her three brothers, Walt, Leland, Clifford and her 2 sisters Evelyn and Effie.

She was also very close to many of her sibling’s offspring. Quite simply, Opal believed in family. As a very young girl during the depression she worked hard cleaning and cooking for her father and brothers after her parents divorced.

At age 16 she met a very special army soldier by the name of Anthony Joseph LaRotonda. They met at a skating rink, fell in love and were married for 67 years before “Tony” departed the planet on Mother’s Day in 2011. Tony and Opal had a devoted, loving life and together faced all challenges amicably.

They also gave birth to three children, Anthony Peter, Linda Carol, and Thomas Gary. While each found very different paths in life, till this day they remain close and in touch. They were deeply imprinted with Opal’s “nobody tells me what to do” perspective in life.

Her son Anthony who goes by “Butch” married Betty DeHerrera and they gave birth to a beautiful daughter Carina and later adopted a son, Eric. Carina bore two amazing great-grand-children, Ethan and Elise. Linda and Tom choose not to have children.

Other memorable traits in mom, were her sense of humor, she loved to tell jokes, and her amazing creativity which unfortunately was impacted when she became legally blind in her 60’s due to macular degeneration. Her greatest passion was her work as an astrologer. She loved exploring the charts of nation’s and famous people.

It was one of her greatest talents. She also loved the metaphysical and alternative perspectives of life and was a great fan of the Art Bell radio show. She was lively and willful in life which sometimes caused difficulties for her, but she followed the beat of her own drum and actively beat it.

She was not passive or conforming. She kept her signature bright red hair on full display until the final month of her life. A symbol of a spirit that ceaselessly prevails.

In the end she departed with her son Tom by her side, reading from the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Her final passage to the beyond and final beat of her drum on this planet earth, occurred on All Saints Day, November 1, 2018. This adds up to the numerology number of 11111.

She left a strong message in that number. In the end her strong will finally melted into a willingness to be taken by the greater which brought her here in the beginning. Watch out all you souls on the other side, Opal has arrived….
