Ora’s Obituary Ora Mecham Warren PRICE-Ora Mecham Warren, 89, passed away on May 23, 2019. She was born on January 19, 1930 in Roosevelt, Utah, the tenth child of Francis and Alice Myler Mecham. Ora grew up on the family farm, attended Neola Elementary School and rode the bus nine miles to Roosevelt High School.

On October 8, 1948, she married Neil Warren from Price. They lived in the Carbon College Student Housing while Neil attended school. Ora worked for Nicholson Drug Store and Neil was night clerk at the Mission Motel.

An academic scholarship took them to the University of Utah and Salt Lake City. Ora first began working for the Salt Lake Technical College and later for O.C. Tanner Jewelry Company making jewelry. Active military service during the Korean War took them to California and Texas and then it was back to Utah where Ora had her first son, Brad.

She tended her beautiful baby and Neil’s grandmother while he was in graduate school. Their next move was back to Price, their permanent home, where Neil began teaching at Carbon College. Ora’s second son, Scott, came in 1960.

Ora was a member of the Faculty Women’s Club, the New Century Club and she was very busy with church work as a Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher and MIA Officer. She took classes at the college, even took a Shakespeare class from her husband. They had their marriage solemnized in the Manti Temple and they were sealed to their children.

Her last job was with J.C. Penney’s where she was a salesperson and managed the store’s decorations where she had an opportunity to demonstrate her artistic skills. She retired from J.C. Penney’s in 1993. As a hobby Ora made quilts and blankets for her children and grandchildren.

She also created many clever little boxes and gifts, some of which she sold. Ora was an excellent housekeeper, always cleaning and arranging in the house and tending to the yard. She worked hard to raise her two sons and often tended and schooled most of her seven grandsons.

Imagine how many ball games and other activities she attended while raising all of her boys. She was a special lady who was loved by all who knew her. The Warren’s loved to travel on tours, cruises and self-drive trips.

They covered most of North America, including Alaska and Hawaii, Central and South America, six trips to Europe, two to Russia, small parts of Africa and Asia, China and Japan, New Zealand and Australia and some Pacific Islands. Ora was also an avid reader. She had a library card, belonged to book clubs, borrowed books and read many of the books in her husband’s collection.

Whenever she had a free moment, you could find her cuddled up in the recliner reading a good book. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Neil Warren, Price; sons, Brad (Jean) Warren, Salt Lake, Scott Warren, Price; seven grandsons, Richard, Michael, Travis, Ryan, Andrew, Patrick and Shawn; eight great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews.
