Patricia “Pat” M. Tracey, 78, of Brick, NJ left this world peacefully at her home on May 1, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She spent her final days surrounded by her loving family, dear friends, and the compassionate hospice nurses and aides. Born in Jersey City on St Patrick’s Day in 1940, Pat’s strong faith led her to join the Convent of the Felician Sisters, in Lodi, NJ.

“Sister Mary Rosalind,” as she was then known, remained with the order for 17 years. It was there that Pat discovered her passion for teaching. After leaving the convent she spent the majority of her career at Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft, NJ, where she held a variety of positions centered around her devotion to service and commitment to others.

At one point “Ms.Tracey” acted as CBA’s Chair of the Religious Studies Department and also received recognition as Lasalian Educator of the Year in 1996. Upon retirement, she continued to counsel students and inspire them to lead lives of service. Pat’s love for life was infectious & her smile was impossible to ignore.

Her compassion was not limited to people but extended to a love for animals and nature. Despite being a lifelong New Jersey resident, Pat always considered herself a New Englander at heart and enjoyed frequent visits to the region with loved ones. Pat was predeceased by her father, Edward Trzeciakiewicz, her mother Mathilda “Tillie” Tracey, and her dear friend Monica Mazurkiewicz.

She is survived by her brother, Alvin Tracey, and his wife, Maureen, of Brick; her beloved niece, Tara (Tracey) Nash, her husband Colin, and their children, Addie, Sadie, and Anderson, of Wall. Pat absolutely adored the children who affectionately referred to her as “Cioci” in honor of her Polish heritage. Her loyal dog, Rocky, who never left her side, will also deeply miss her companionship.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 2pm-6pm at O’Brien Funeral Home at 505 Burnt Tavern Rd Brick, NJ 08724. Funeral Mass will be held at the Epiphany RC Church, 615 Thiele Rd. Brick NJ 08724 at 11AM on Monday May 7.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to have contributions made to Christian Brothers Academy, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738, in the name of Patricia Tracey where a scholarship fund is being established in her name.
