Obituary for Patricia A. Basirico Patricia A. Basirico, 81, passed away on October 18, 2018 at Eger Health Care & Rehab. Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, and in 1968, settled in Eltingville.
Patricia was a graduate of Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, and because of her love of art, she became an accomplished freelance artist. Over the years she had a studio at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and also taught art classes at the YMCA and in her home, focusing on oil painting and abstract design. She was also a member of the S.I. Art Federation.
Patricia was an active parishioner at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, where she was a Eucharistic minister and member of the church’s senior club. In her earlier years, she loved playing basketball and swimming and she always enjoyed ”a good cup of coffee”, especially at luncheons with her girlfriends. Above all, Patricia was extremely devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and always enjoyed Sunday dinners with the family.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Salvatore, who passed away in March of 2018. Patricia is survived by her sons, Leonard, Jon and Christopher; daughter, Jennifer Ehrhardt; sisters, Kathleen Guerin and Rose Pelham and her grandchildren, Leonard, Sophie and Jon. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday and 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd.
S.I. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, located at 5411 Amboy Road. S.I. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Patricia A. Basirico please visit our Sympathy Store.
