Patricia Pat Swartz , August 27, 1938 — December 31, 2018

Patricia A. “Pat” Swartz, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by family. According to her wishes, Pat has been cremated.

Burial will be at a later date in Forest Home Cemetery. The family will host a gathering on Thursday, January 3, 2019, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Ashford Park Clubhouse in Mt. Pleasant.

Gifts of love and friendship may be given to H20, a local organization that supports families dealing with serious illnesses. Olson~Powell Memorial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. On-line condolences may be directed to www.

olsonpowell.com. Born August 27, 1938, in Affton, MO, Patricia Ann was the daughter of Russell Frank and Elizabeth W. (Noll) Ward. She was a graduate of Affton High School.

On November 29, 1958, Pat was united in marriage to Glenn Irving Swartz. After 50 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on October 30, 2009. A loving wife, mother, and homemaker, Pat was also an administrative secretary at University of Missouri Rolla.

She moved to Fort Madison, IA in 1980, where she was an optometric assistant to Doctor Kaiser and then Doctors Smith and Smith. Pat moved to the Olds, IA, area in 1997 and then to Mt. Pleasant in 2010.

She worked for Country Charm Flowers and the Mt. Pleasant Public Library. While living in the Olds area, Pat served as a deacon at the United Church of Christ and then attended First Baptist Church in Mt.

Pleasant. Being a grandmother and great-grandmother, was the highlight of Pat’s life. She was an avid reader, collected bird houses, and enjoyed tending her flower pots.

Pat was a member of two bridge clubs. She liked interior decorating and crafts where she used her skills to make dollhouses for her granddaughters. Pat is survived by a son, Steven (Terri) Swartz of Jamestown, NC; a daughter, Jana (Mark) Crull of Mt.

Pleasant, IA; a sister, Linda (Sonny) Roither of St. Louis, MO; and seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Riley) Shigemoto, Lauren (Alex) Peabody, Kaitlyn Kelly, Aaron (Heather) Kelly, Payton Kelly, Makenzie (Trandon) Ailey; and Madysinn Crull. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, Pat was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Ward.
