Obituary Service Details Paul Chucalo, age 91, of Belleville, IL, formerly of Fairmont City, IL, born on June 29, 1927 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, IL. Paul joined the Merchant Marines and later the Army and served during the Korean War. He was a retired construction supervisor for Rust Company in Belleville, IL and is a member of the Cahokia Mounds Society.

Paul’s family was his only love. He was a caring brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Mary, nee Gavelda, Chucalovich; and his siblings, Marcus Chucalo, Mildred Long, Lilly Cady, Zorina Lane, Violet Dobek, Thomas Chucalo and Velimer Chucalo.

Paul is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Chucalo, nee Hepler; his daughters, Linda C. (Dan) Unger of Elizabethtown, KY and Velda (Henry) Chucalo Mowry of Valencia, CA; his 5 grandchildren, Karen B. (Skip) Alexander, Paul R. (Becky) Anderson, Christopher A. (Alley) Mowry, Michael A. (Brianna) Mowry and Lauren A. Mowry; 8 great-grandchildren, Preston I. Collins, Brooke A. Collins, Logan R. Anderson, Jack A. Anderson, Maximus G. Anderson, Liam N. Anderson, Payton E. Mowry and Camdyn G. Mowry. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Cahokia Mounds Museum Society, 30 Ramey St., Collinsville, IL 62234.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd, Fairview Heights, IL. Interment will be held in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
