Paul L. Sheppard of Cohasset passed away peacefully on Friday October 12, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. Paul had bravely fought complications sustained after heart surgery. Paul was born of Helen C. (Kelly) and George J. Sheppard and lived in Roslindale Mass.
After graduating from Boston Technical High School in 1951, Paul joined the Air Force during the Korean War and attended USAF Heavy Equipment School in Cheyenne, WY and then was stationed in Goosebay Labrador at the Airforce refueling station. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Paul returned to Boston and worked for Baker Ford in Brookline and then was the Service Manager at Cohasset Motors for over 22 years, Bishay Motors for 15 years and most recently had been working at his son’s business, Minot Motorworks. Paul met the love of his life, Pauline Schramn in 1960 and they were married in 1962 and shared 56 wonderful years of marriage which included three children: Linda Sheppard-Reece and her husband Ronald of Hull, Paul L Sheppard and his wife Rosemary of Norwell, and Amy Carpenter and her husband William of Scituate.
Paul is also survived by his grandchildren: Steven P. Reece, Jenna J.S. Reece, Paul D. Sheppard, Jillian R. Sheppard, Ava K. Carpenter, Benjamin Sardella, Joshua R. Reece and Renee M. Reece Paul was predeceased by his siblings: George Sheppard, Jr., Charles Sheppard and Jean (Sheppard) Troiano. Paul is survived by many nieces and nephews and predeceased by his nephews George Joseph Sheppard III, John Troiano and James Sheppard. Paul lived a beautiful and faithful life.
He was a man of many words whose insight and opinions touched anyone he met. Paul was a proud and active member of St. Anthony’s Parish in Cohasset. He enjoyed travelling to Ireland, the Caribbean and most recently to the Cape and to Maine.
Paul also enjoyed the companionship of many beloved pets over the years. He enjoyed taking his dog Molly to Sandy Beach and to the Driftway Dog Park in Scituate. Paul also enjoyed being actively involved with his children’s and grandchildren’s endeavors.
Whether coaching little league, shuttling the swim team, organizing fund raisers or just showing up to games and productions he was always available for all. He volunteered his time to the Cohasset Lions Club where he served as treasurer helping those who could not see. His many hobbies included antique cars, railroad history and he enjoyed workouts at the gym.
. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul’s life on Monday October 22, 2018 at McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s in Cohasset at 10 AM on October 23, 2018.
Interment at the National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass at 2:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Paul may be made to the St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, SD. (www.
