Obituary of Pauline Albee Dover-Foxcroft – Pauline Theda Albee, age 97, formerly of Sangerville, died peacefully and surrounded by love on Sunday, October 14, 2018, in her “room five” at Hibbard Nursing Home. She was born June 3, 1921, in Milo, and was the oldest of seven children born to Laverne and Florence (Fletcher) Smith. She attended secretarial school after high school and was recruited from that program to work at Hardwood Products in Guilford.

She ended up working for Hardwood Products for over 40 years, where she helped establish the first computerized payroll system. She loved her work and was highly regarded by the owners. She married Carl Stone in 1945.

Mr. Stone died in 1973. In 1977 she married Earl Albee. They were happily married until his death in 1992.

She was a lifelong member of the Guilford United Methodist Church. She worked with several volunteer organizations, including the Dover-Foxcroft Water District, the Guilford Library, and Mayo Regional Hospital. She was an active member at the YMCA for many years.

She loved her family and often spoke of time spent at the family camp on Boyd Lake as a child. She was a wonderful grandmother – she will be remembered for attending numerous concerts and games, trips to Ames and Ben Franklin’s for toys, Pepsi and french fries at the Gold Nugget, and endless rides to school. She is predeceased by her husbands; brothers, Harry Smith, Gerald Smith, Beverly Smith; sisters, Annabelle Titcomb, Shirley Clukey; and step-daughters Connie Sabato and Janice Marsh.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Stone Zimmerman and her husband, Robert, of Abbot; a brother, Wayne Smith and his wife, Janet, of Berwick; three step-sons, David Albee of Petaluma, California, Dick Albee of Duluth, Georgia, Kenneth Stone of Holiday, Florida; two step-daughters, Dianne Albee of Dexter, Donna Lindsay of Lisbon Falls; two grandchildren, Sheri Zimmerman Taub and husband, Christopher, of Brunswick, Jeffrey Zimmerman and wife, Tracy, of Guilford; three great grandchildren, Emmet Taub, Molly Taub, and Anna Zimmerman; and many nieces and nephews, including Sandy Smith-Nickerson who visited her several times a week. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hibbard Nursing home for their care of Pauline over the last five years, especially to the CNA staff who loved her and tended to her needs both emotionally and physically, to her physician, Dr. Darin Peck, who worked to make her days as peaceful and comfortable as possible, and the staff at CHCS Hospice for their care. A graveside committal will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Lawn Cemetery, Guilford, with the Rev.

Ann Beach officiating. There will be a reception immediately following at the Guilford United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a memorial contribution to the Hibbard Nursing Home, “CNA Discretionary Fund,” 1037 W. Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft, Maine 04426. This fund will honor Pauline by providing the Certified Nursing Assistant staff with money to purchase personal items for their residents – favorite soaps, drinks, shampoo, etc. The CNA staff at Hibbard made Pauline’s life better in immeasurable ways and for that we will always be grateful.

Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed at www. laryfuneralhome.com.
