Peggy A. Swetnam-Bruening September 26, 1931 – January 19, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook PEGGY ANN SWETNAM-BRUENING Peggy A. Swetnam-Bruening, age 87, of Belton, Missouri, passed away at home on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Peggy was born on September 26, 1931 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of O.O. Carter and Etta Taylor.

Peggy was one of four children: Bob Carter, Judy Brougher, and Doris Kreie. Peggy was joined in marriage with Ralph Swetnam of Riverside, MO, in 1951. Together they were blessed with two sons, Rick and Randall.

For most of her life Peggy was a home maker while raising their two boys. Later on, she worked outside of the home as an interior designer for The Jones Store and a secretary for Townsend Communications and McGuiness Trucking Co. After the loss her husband, Ralph, Peggy was again joined in marriage to her late husband, Joseph Bruening, in 1991. Peggy can be remembered as a woman who had an eye for beauty, excellence and a love for art.

She expressed herself with dignity, poise, and grace and whenever possible, she enjoyed partaking of the finer things of life. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Ralph Swetnam; husband of 12 years, Joseph H. Bruening; parents, O. O. and Etta Carter; sister, Doris Kreie; and grandson, Joel Swetnam. She is survived by her two sons, Rick Swetnam (Sheila), of Lee’s Summit and Randall Swetnam (Lori), of Belton; brother, Bob Carter, of Broken Arrow, OK; sister, Judy Brougher, of Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren, Blake Swetnam and Rachel Swetnam; Elizabeth Dahl, Sarah Moss, Benjamin, Samuel, Anna, and Luke; and ten great grandchildren.

The planned memorial service will be private. Arrangements: Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, Missouri 816. 322.
