Naugatuck- Mrs.Peggy Ann (Skorvanek) Hayes, 73, of Naugatuck, passed away Wednesday, July 11th, 2018, at Waterbury Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of James P. Hayes Sr her loving husband of 47 years, whom she missed deeply. Peggy was born May 29th, 1945 in Port Chester, New York, daughter of the late Estelle (Bender) Skorvanek and Joseph Skorvanek Sr

She was a resident of Waterbury for many years before moving to Naugatuck. She was a parishioner of St Francis of Assisi Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren.

She worked for many years in various businesses, but her life’s focus was being a loving, caring, nurturing mom, grandma and friend. She loved to cook, garden, walk the beach, float in her pool, but most importantly talk with those she loved; she always had an open ear, a loving heart, and kind and gentle words to offer. She is survived by her children, James and Jessica Hayes Jr, Timothy Hayes, Sandra Gomulinski, Lisa Gomulinski and Brett Littlejohn, all of Naugatuck; Kelly and Phil Alberto of West Haven; and grandchildren, AmberRose and Jocelyn Alberto, Kaitlyn Hayes, Matthew and Meghan Gomulinski, Charlesse Jenkins, Brandy Garofalo, David Greene, Jeremiah Brown, Jack and Kirsten Reardon, and great grandchild Mason Brown; and siblings Joseph and Cindy Skorvanek, Shirley Rzewuski and Beverly Skorvanek, as well as many nieces, a nephew, and great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by son-in-law’s Mark and Jason Gomulinski and a grandson, Philip Patrick Alberto. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 20th, 2018 at 9:30 am in St. Hedwig’s Church in Naugatuck. Burial will be held privately.

Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101. Arrangements have been entrusted to Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street Naugatuck Ct.
