Peggy Manley died on February 6, 2019 after a long fight with Alzheimer’s Disease and associated complications. She was born on May 22, 1937 in Iron City, Tennessee. Peggy graduated from Salinas High School in Salinas, California.

Peggy met and married the father of her children ~ a Southern Baptist minister ~ in California and soon after, moved to Oklahoma to be a preacher’s wife. During her life time Peggy was a mother, wife, Sunday school teacher, surgeon’s receptionist, assistant in minor surgery, autoclaver of instruments/packs, bookkeeper, cashier and computer collections. Peggy received her Bachelors of Science degree from the Central Washington University in 1981 with a major in the Studies of Aging.

This is where she developed her passion of helping and supporting the elderly. After she earned her degree she held several positions as the “Activities Director” at a couple of nursing homes including one in Pasco, Washington. Peggy also was a “house mother” to individuals with developmental disabilities, helping them with daily tasks and activities.

Due to the failing health of her father, Peggy moved to Tennessee to become a caregiver of not only her father, but after his death, also her mother. Peggy had a devotion for gardening and was a talented artist and crafter. She adored attending craft shows where she would sell her handcrafted items.

Peggy loved to travel and held a special love for the ocean and the beach. Peggy rooted for the underdog in most situations. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and would decorate, decorate and decorate.

One time she even unplugged her telephone to enable her to plug in one more set of lights! Peggy is preceded in death by the father of her children, Carvel O’Dell, husband ET Manley and parents Edith and Grady Caperton. She is survived by her sister Joan (William) Dalton, brother Thomas Caperton, children Cindy (Michael) Cox, Carvel (Sharon) O’Dell and Catherine Allen.
