Pennie’s Obituary Boonville- Pennie V. Oaster, 57, a lifelong resident, passed away peacefully, with the love of her family on February 19, 2019, at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Constableville, N.Y. on November 29, 1961 a daughter of Louis and Joan Oaster Gorzalkowski. Pennie grew up in Boonville and graduated from Adirondack Central High School in 1980.

While in high school she studied cosmetology at B.O.C.E.S. and at an early age started her career at Sunset Nursing Home. Pennie loved her job as Activities Director at Sunset; she spent many hours coordinating events and activities. She often said it would not have been possible without her volunteers.

She stayed active in cosmetology and on Fridays would line the residents up to do their hair. She touched thousands of people’s lives throughout her 39 years at Sunset Nursing Home. She greatly loved her job and family and will forever be missed.

Surviving are her companion, Philip Loftus and family, Austin and McHenna Loftus and Jeanne {Mema} Loftus; one sister and brother in law, Lisa and Tom Gerace, Carthage; one brother and sister in law, James and Debra Gorzalkowski, Boonville; nieces and nephews that she treated like her own kids; Michael Gerace, Dena Gerace, Jessica Gerace, Tommy Gerace and Charlie Domville and Courtney and Nick Gorzalkowski; great niece and nephews, Royale Yager, Dylan Grass and Sebastian Gerace; uncle and aunt, Richard and Linda Oaster, Utica; a special cousin, Janet Hamlett; many special friends and her Sunset Nursing Home family. She was predeceased by her parents Louis in 2005 and Joan in 2006. Pennies family would like to thank Jerome Britton and family for everything they have done for her, also Dr. Podkowka, (Dr. P.) and the countless others who have given her support throughout the years.

Pennies funeral will be on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 4 pm at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St., Boonville. Relatives and friends may call from 1- 4pm prior to the service. Spring burial will be in the Boonville Cemetery.
