Peter “Pete” Agustus Miranda June 25, 1919 – February 07, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook A lifelong resident of Plaquemine, loving husband and father, retired maintenance administrative supervisor with Kaiser Aluminum for 38 years, gently passed from this life on February 7, 2019. Born June 25, 1919 he spent most of is 99 years enjoying family and friends. Affectionately known as ‘Pete-Mo’ by his fellow Plaquemine High School graduates, he also attended Baton Rouge Business College and LSU.
A private graveside service was held for the family at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery. Pete touched the lives of many. You are invited to a visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 11:30am until Memorial Mass at 12:30pm and immediately following we will celebrate his life and service to our community.
Pete served as a Notary Public for over 60 years, yet he will be mostly remembered for his countless hours donated to his community through 4-H and numerous livestock related activities. Pete joined 4-H as a youngster in 1928 and remained involved for 86 years. He was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame at the age of 94.
He has tirelessly coordinated various petting zoos across the parish; served over 2 decades as an officer with Iberville Parish Cattlemen’s Association; provided assistance to the USDA office in W.B.R.; volunteered on the NRCS and Earth Teams; a member of The American Legion; Secretary for the Iberville Chapter of AARP; and was heavily involved in events at the C. M. “Mike” Zito Multi-purpose Center, Plaquemine Lock, and the Iberville Museum. Pete was honored to be a 2010 recipient of the “Men of Iberville” award. Among his favorite activities were his weekly trips to the stockyard livestock sales in Baton Rouge.
Pete is survived by his daughter, Janet Bryant and husband Joe; two sons, Glenn Miranda and wife Andrea, and Brian Miranda and wife Brenda; six grandchildren, Jolie Bryant Campo and husband Jody, Joseph Wilbert “Joby” Bryant, III and wife Kim, Jenee’ Bryant, Brittany Miranda d’Aquin and husband Eric, Brant Miranda, and John Miranda; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Jonah Bryant; Parker Miranda, Owen and Claire d’Aquin, and a new addition coming in May; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Ann Panepinto Miranda; parents, Alida Oubre Miranda and John Miranda Sr.; brothers, Edward “Eddie” Clebert, John Miranda Jr., and Victor Miranda. Special acknowledgements to Richard Lee, Bo and Shirley Messina, Sylvia and Lee Gilchrist, Douglas and Luanna Persilver, Margaret Simms, Mike Zito, Earl Devillier, Rhett and Harry Marrioneaux, C.J. Guidry, Missy Alleman, Greg and Amanda Landry.
You, and others like you, enriched Pete’s life with heartfelt visits, meals, gifts (especially sweets), and best of all adventures that often-included animals. Please accept our heartfelt thanks.
