OBITUARY Philip Emanuel Sloop December 18, 1916 – September 10, 2018 Philip Emanuel Wright Sloop, 101, died due to complications from a heart attack and pneumonia. He was the son of Vastine Emanuel and Katie Corriher Sloop. Philip was a devout Christian, living his faith by example.

He was a life time member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was active in all phases of the church. He was married to Virginia Karriker Sloop for 68 loving years before her death in 2013. He was a WWII veteran, serving 5 years of service to his country, as a Tech Sgt, in Signal Aviation of US Army.

Philip was Chaplain of Corriher Grange for more than 40 consecutive years and a member 78 consecutive years. He was a member of the American Legion for more than 70 years. He worked at Canon Mills Co. 48 years.

When retiring, he was the Superintendent of Carding and Spinning , Plant #1. Phillip is known for his spiritual meal blessing, growing black peanuts, graphing apple trees, and carving squirrels and monkeys from peach seeds. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathy Brown (Mike) Irvin, grandsons; Kabin Darrell (Carrie) Brown, Ryan Derry (Elizabeth) Brown, niece; Jill Karriker Kemp, Logan Kemp, Kristen Kemp, step-grandson, Philip Wesley (Brooke) Irvin, and step-great-grandchild; Abigail and Ellanora, and also a sister, Kathryn Campbell.

Those family members that have preceded him in death are a son , Anthony Emanual (Tony) Sloop, sisters; Sara Karriker, Mary Helen Wilkinson, Louise Phillips, and Doris Cavin. Also precededing her are her brothers; Jack, Jacob (Jake), and Allyn Sloop. Funeral Service will be 4:00 pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Rev.

Ken Reed and Dr. Larry Bost , officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 till 4:00 pm in the Family Life Center. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
