Phillip L. Bluhm, 73, of La Porte, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019. Phillip was born on October 24, 1945, to Louis F. and Lois P. (Burlingham) Bluhm. On September 24, 1966, he married Sharla Gillham who survives.

Also surviving are his beloved children, Diane (Mark) Stapleton of Mill Creek and Kevin (Amy K.) Bluhm of Stillwell; 6 grandchildren, Ashlee Bluhm of La Porte, Ryan (Rebecca) Dove of Walkerton, Jessica (Angel) Sosa of Knoxville, TN, Delaney Bluhm of La Porte, Michael and Stephen LaRosa of La Porte; 4 great-grandchildren, Skilynn Scalf, Dillan Dove, Zack Myers, and Braylynn Myers; brother, Paul (Jane) Bluhm of Biloxi, MS; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and brother, Randall L. Bluhm. Phillip was a service manager at Kabelin for 43 years where he started the service department.

He loved being involved in the fire department. In 1963, Phillip started at Kingsbury Volunteer Fire Department and in 1971 transferred to Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department where he was the chief for over 30 years. He was a life member of the Indiana Volunteer Fire Fighters Association (IVFA) and (IVFAA).

He was also a member of the Auxiliary. Phillip enjoyed trains, wood working and animals. He especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 am (CT) on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Jeff Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Kingsbury Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 4 – 8 pm (CT) on Monday, March 4, 2019 with a IVFA and IVFAA Service at 7 PM.

Visitation will also take place from 10 am (CT) until the time of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department, 9 E. Mann Street, La Porte, IN 46350. Condolences may be shared with the family on www.
