Phyllis Marie (Reitmeier) Swedmark Ugelstad, age 90, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Cornerstone Nursing Home, Bagley, Minnesota. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 2 pm at Bethel Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mark Kindem officiating. Family will greet friends one hour before the service.

Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service. She was born April 27, 1928, in Bertha, Minnesota to Charles and Bernice (Stenger) Reitmeier.

The family moved to a farm near Mizpah, Minnesota. It was there that she met Sidney Swedmark, when he was deer hunting at a local hunting lodge where she was working. Sid & Phyllis were married October 6, 1946, in Bemidji.

Sid & Phyllis operated Swedmark Lodge during the summer for many years. Phyllis also worked for many years at JC Penney during the winter months, retiring in 1989. Sid & Phyllis were able to spend a couple of winters in Arizona prior to Sid’s passing in November 1992.

Phyllis married Harold Ugelstad, April 1995. They spent many winters traveling to Arizona, while living in Bemidji during the summer months. Subsequently, they lived in Northview Manor and Tamarack Court.

She is survived by husband, Harold Ugelstad; her daughter, Beverly (Stan) Schultz of Stanwood, Washington; and son Al (Doris) Swedmark, Bemidji; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Diane) Reitmeier; stepdaughters Ellen Jackelen, Nancy (Terry) Hickman, 5 step-grandchildren, and 17 step-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sid; son, Wayne Swedmark; brother and sister in law, Barney & Dolores Reitmeier. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sanford Bemidji Home Care and Hospice.
