Phyllis May Smith (nee: Traut), 89 of Lorain, Ohio died Friday, June 1, 2018 at home following a lengthy illness. She was born on December 18, 1928 to the late Elsie (nee: Wheeler) and Henry Traut in Lorain where she was a life long resident. Mrs. Smith was a crossing guard for Lorain city schools.

She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts. Mrs. Smith loved musical stuffed animals. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Frank Smith in 1991. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 6 PM until 8 PM in the Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, Ohio 44052 where funeral services will follow at 8 PM with Chaplin John Jackson of the New Life Hospice officiating.
