PING’s Obituary MYRNA NANG-PING HENSLEY BROOKS WHITE, AGE 79 PASSED AWAY MONDAY EVENING ON JANUARY 7, 2019 AT DEACONESS HOSPITAL IN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA. PING WAS BORN ON NOVEMBER 30, 1939 IN PADUCAH, KY. DAUGHTER OF THE LATE BUSTER ODELL HENSLEY AND GEORGIA ELLEN MCREYNOLDS HENSLEY JAMERSON.

SHE HAD SIX SIBLINGS PRECEDED HER IN DEATH ALONG WITH ONE STEP-SON. SHE LEAVES HER LOVING AND DEVOTED HUSBAND, JAMES M. WHITE OF HOPKINSVILLE; TWO LOVING SONS TO CHERISH HER MEMORIES COWAN H. BROOKS, JR. (JACQUELINE) AND PHILLIP H. BROOKS (JOYCE) BOTH OF HOPKINSVILLE, KY ; (2) STEP-CHILDREN JACQUELINE BINGHAM (KEITH) OF WESTCHESTER, PA AND BILL WHITE (CHERYL) OF HOPKINSVILLE, KY ALONG WITH (10) GRANDCHILDREN AND (7) GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND (3) GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

PING WAS EMPLOYED WITH THE CHRISTIAN COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM WHERE SHE WORKED WITH SPECIAL NEED KIDS AND SERVED AS THE FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN VICE PRESIDENT OF WESTSIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTA. SHE LATER SERVED AS THE FIELD REPRESENTATIVE FOR CONGRESSMAN CARROL HUBBARD FOR MANY YEARS. HER FINAL JOB BEFORE HER INJURY AND RETIREMENT WAS WITH WALMART AS A GREETER.

PING HELD LEADERSHIP ROLES IN MANY ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH-OUT HER CAREER. SHE WAS CO-FOUNDER OF THE MADERNETTED WOMEN’S CLUB, PIONEERS WOMEN’S AUXILIARY, SPECIAL OLYMPICS COMMITTEE, NAACP PRESIDENT AND AREA DIRECTOR, DEMOCRATIC WOMEN ASSOCIATION, WESTERN KENTUCKY FAIR BOARD, KENTUCKY COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS, PENNYRILE RC&D BOARD, HUMAN RELATIONS BOARD, CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST AT FORSYTHE COUNTY GEORGIA, HONORARY KENTUCKY COLONEL, ADVOCATE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE “GET OUT THE VOTE”, JESSIE JACKSON RAINBOW COALITION COMMITTEE, AND A MEMBER OF THE DR. MARTIN LUTHER KIND, JR.
