Platte Roper Watts died January 21, 2019, in Sandy, Utah. He was the child of Jeremiah and Kate Lutie (Walker) Watts born October 3, 1923, in Leamington, Utah. His family later moved to Springville, Utah.

Platte graduated from Springville High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Dunn. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mt.

Timpanogos Temple. They had three children: Marsha Kay, Allan Russell, and Colleen. Platte served in World War II as a torpedoman on the destroyer USS Laws in the Pacific.

He then worked for the Union Pacific until his retirement. Platte loved sports of all kinds. He was an athlete himself and an avid sports fan of all the local teams.

He coached many young players. He loved to hunt and fish with his brothers. In his final years, he enjoyed cards and puzzles with friends.

Platte served others his whole life. He was a wonderful grandfather. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Platte was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen, son Allan, granddaughter Ashley Watts, and great-grandson Gage Carter. He leaves behind his daughters Marsha Dotson and Colleen Anderson, twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren. Services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, Jan 26, at Goff Mortuary, 8090 State St., Midvale, with a viewing starting at 10 AM.

At 1:30 PM there will be a short graveside service with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
