Prentiss “Pete” Trest February 2, 1932 – January 11, 2019 Prentiss Edward “Pete” Trest Sr., 86, of Bay Springs, MS, passed away Friday, January 11, 2019, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. He was born Tuesday, February 2, 1932 in Smith County, MS. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 2:30 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs. Burial will follow in New Home Baptist Church Cemetery. Dr. Keith Gordon will officiate.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (601) 764-2181 Pete was born in Smith County at home on February 2, 1932. He was a graduate of Stringer High School in the class of 1950-1951.

Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy. During his working life, Pete was an appliance repairman for Alexander’s in Bay Springs. After retiring from Alexander’s, he worked with the U.S. Forestry Service through the Senior Community Service Employment Program.

Pete loved his family and his church family. He enjoyed serving the Lord and went on several missions trips. Among other hobbies, He enjoyed gospel music and was an avid gardner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Edward Trest and Sarah Frances Ishee Trest; sister, Sarah Estelle Trest Norris; daughters, Evelyn Dianne Trest Brown and Deborah Carol Trest Taylor and son, Prentiss Edward Trest, Jr. Survivors include his children, Cynthia Delores Trest Mabry (Bob) of Byram, MS, Darwin Dewayne Trest (Susan Anderson ) of Vicksburg, MS and honorary daughter, Rhonda Brown Self (Billy) of Bay Springs, MS; sisters, Patsy Lee Trest Dickard (Larry) of Frisco, TX, Doris Pearl Trest Ishee (Ray) of Stringer, MS and Norma Jane Trest Parker Robin (Pete) of Taylorsville, MS; brothers, William Glenn Trest (Susan) of Bay Springs, MS and Jimmy Ross Trest (Maxine) of Pearl, MS; son-in-law, Robert Brown, Southaven, MS; daughter-in-law, Sherri Trest, Hernando, MS;10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Self, Truitt Brown and Tom Upton.
