Ralph Gallaher, January 22, 1926 — October 29, 2018

Obituary for Ralph Gallaher GALLAHER, Ralph T. – 92, of Cold Spring, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on October 29, 2018. Born in West Cape May, Ralph has been a lifelong resident of the Cape May area. A man of honor, he served in the United States Navy during World War II, a Cook, on Landing Craft Infantry 958 in the South Pacific Theatre.

During his working years, he was a General Carpenter who tended to his work with great pride. Ralph was always very active in the Cape May and Lower Township area. He was a member of the VFW Peterson-Little Post #386 since 1947, where he held many positions including Past Commander (1965-67); Past Seam Squirrel of the Order of the Cooties and was head of the Building Committee.

He also enjoyed playing shuffle board with his buddies at “The V.” He was a Lower Township Committee Person for Zones 3 and 5; former president of the Silver Spokes Motorcycle Club (member since 1976); active member of the 4-H Club and was a former member of the West Cape May Volunteer Fire Co He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Jo Gallaher (2008); daughter, Patrice Marie Bailey 2006 and his sister, Frances Young. Ralph is survived by his son, Michael Ralph Gallaher (and wife, Linda); 5 grandchildren, Michael, Colleen, Jennifer, George and Christine; 4 great grandchildren; nieces, Kelly O’Brien-Baker (and Nick Herman) and Tracey O’Brien (and Victor D’Andrea).

Relatives and friends will be received in the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington St., Cape May on Tuesday (Nov. 6th) from 9am until 10am. Ralph’s Mass of Christian Burial will follow and be celebrated at 11am in St. John of God RC Church, 680 Town Bank Rd.
