Ramiro Flores December 06, 1942 – December 28, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Ramiro Flores, 76, passed away to be with the Lord on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Knapp Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1942, to Thomas Florez & Rachael Garcia in Weslaco, TX. Mr. Flores was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country from 1963 to 1966, as well as the National Guard in 1979.

Mr. Flores dedicated his time to the community for many years and received numerous certificates, awards, and trophies for his involvement. He was a member of the Weslaco Boys Club, Weslaco Pee Wee League, Boy Scouts, T.A.R.C. , Mid Valley A.R.C., Texas School for the Blind, Parental Involvement Program, St. Joan of Arc Men’s Club, the U.S. National Guard 49th Armor and American Legion in Donna, TX.

Mr. Flores was a member of LULAC Chapter 291 since 1970, where he served as secretary and president for 11 years and eight years as district director. He was an agent for four years and a supervisor for one year with Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company in the San Juan, TX district area. He later formed Rams Independent Insurance Agency.

Mr. Flores’ hobbies were hunting and collecting old coins and relics from other countries. He enjoyed spending time with his friends during his daily lunches. Mr. Flores is preceded in death by his parents & 3 sons, Michael Gutierrez, Eric Gene Florez & Robert of South Bend, IN.

He is survived by 1 son, Ramiro Florez, Jr. of Defiance, OH & 2 daughters, Donna Cedillo & Linda Lydia Flores, both of Weslaco, TX. Also surviving is 1 grandson, Juan Diego Martinez of Austin, TX. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2018, with a 7:00 p.m. rosary at Guerra Funeral Home of Weslaco – Chapel of The Angels.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2018, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Roland Gonzalez, Ramiro Florez, Jr., Joe Segura, Andre Reese, Clemente Del Campo & Roel Aleman. Cremation will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens.

Burial of cremated remains will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Highland Memorial Park. Military auspices will be under the direction of Sgt. Benito Alaniz, VFW Post 7473 of Elsa, TX.
