OBITUARY Randy Maples January 25, 1948 – November 4, 2018 Randolph Wayne Maples (“Randy”) passed away after an extended illness on Sunday, November 4, 2018 in Gonzales, Louisiana at home and in the presence of his wife and two children. He was born into a military family on January 25, 1948 at Hamilton Field, California, to Eva Mae and Albert Maples. He was the youngest of three children: an older brother, Richard and a sister, Charlotte.

As a military brat, he traveled extensively during his childhood through high school, including three years in England and five years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated high school in Jonesboro, Arkansas and left immediately thereafter to live in Baton Rouge. He apprenticed as a pipefitter through Local 198 and joined the trades as a journeyman after completion of a five-year program.

He started work for Turner Industries shortly thereafter and continued to work for Turner 45 years until his retirement for medical reasons in 2011. He also attended instructor training at Purdue University and taught in the apprentice program at Local 198. He steadily rose through the ranks with Turner, and served as the Beaumont Division Manager, Site Manager for Turner St. Croix, and Project Manager over numerous plants in the Baton Rouge area.

He loved to travel; he was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman (especially golf), and he doted on his grandsons Braxton and Matthew. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother and by his father-in-law Hugh Ambeau, Sr. (Bubbie) and mother-in-law Zelphia (Zip) Delatte Ambeau. He is survived by his lovely wife of 43 years, Barbara, twin children Mia and Micah, and Micah’s wife Nadya, grandsons Braxton and Matthew, his brother Richard and his sister Charlotte, and numerous cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and step sisters.

A visitation for Randy will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Saturday, November 10, 2018 from 9AM until 10AM, service will be held at 10AM with additional visitation from 10:30AM until 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local food bank. Visit www.
