OBITUARY Ray G Stansberry October 4, 1930 – October 15, 2018 Ray Glenn Stansberry, age 88, of Charlotte, entered the gates of Heaven Monday, October 15, 2018 at home. Ray was born in Boone, NC (Watauga County) in 1930. He was the son of Ralph Stansberry and Edna Lyons Stansberry.

He served in the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as commander for Wilson-Beatty VFW Post 9736 Croft, NC. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Ray also loved Fridays at Croft VFW bingo continuing to give back to the community.

He also enjoyed going to many years of Appalachian State Football games and listening to the mountaineer’s band. Ray was the owner and founder of Blinds for Less, Inc. for numerous years upon retiring from Graber Industries. Ray is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 63 years, Doris Dudney Stansberry, one daughter, Teresa Stansberry Sherrill, & John, two sons; David R. Stansberry and wife Teresa, Jim Stansberry and wife Mary, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, one sister, Mary Moretz of Boone, NC.

All were the light of his world. In addition to his parents, his sister Retha Stansberry preceded him in death. Funeral services for Ray Stansberry will be conducted on October 19, 2018 at 12:00pm at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home on Freedom Drive in Charlotte, NC.

A brief visitation will be in the chapel from 11:00am-12:00pm. A private graveside service with military honors for Ray for immediate family will follow. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the many family and friends, who respected his privacy wishes and all the thoughts and prayers during the past 8 months.

The family would also like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care of the Carolinas nurses for their outstanding care provided to our loved one and our family. We deeply appreciate you all.
