OBITUARY William Frederick “Fred” Wellborn June 2, 1929 – October 13, 2018 William Frederick “Fred” Wellborn, 89, of Charlotte, North Carolina, departed this world on October 13, 2018, and is now residing in heaven with his heavenly father, and friends/ family that left before him. Born June 2, 1929 in Wilkes County, North Carolina, Mr. Wellborn was a son of the late Guy Gibbs Wellborn and Annie Hubbard Wellborn. In addition to his parents, brothers and sister, Fred was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy Church Wellborn.

Mr. Wellborn was a Korean War veteran, attended NC State University and spent his career designing and placing utility trucks in service across the USA. He was also gifted with a creative and innovative mind which he utilized to develop products/solutions to simplify life for others. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who always put other’s needs before his own.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Karen Morgan and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Mary Katherine Quattlebaum and husband, Trey, Tyler Morgan and wife, Stephanie, and John Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Morgan and William Quattlebaum, and Katelyn and Luke Morgan. He was also survived by his step-daughter, Audrey Whitley; her children, Thomas Whitley and Elizabeth Couturier; and their families all of whom he loved dearly. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Mountlawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
