Obituary for Mr. Raymond B. Morgan Raymond B. Morgan, 96, of Neptune passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, enlisting in 1941. He went on to fight in World War II in the battles of Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima with the 2nd Marines and 9th Marines 3rd Battalion.

Following World War II, he served in Washington D.C. and 2 years in China. Raymond also served during the Korean War, where he received a battlefield commission from Master Sergeant to 2nd Lieutenant in 1951. In 1962, he retired with the rank of Captain after 21 years of service.

Ray enjoyed golf, bowling and volunteering at the Neptune Senior Center and the Info Age Museum at Shark River, Neptune. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Manasquan where he participated in the Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades as the Grand Marshall. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Ann and their children Raymond of Neptune, Sandra and her husband John Kuhn, Pamela and her husband Thomas Halligan of Brick, JoAnn and her husband Keith of Ashland, VA and his beloved grandchildren Melissa, Kerri, Thomas, Kasey, Kelly, Morgan, Michael and Evan, great grandchild Carlos and many in laws, nephews, nieces and friends.

Friends and family are invited to visit from 6 to 9 PM on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Ely Funeral Home, Neptune. The interment and military honors will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday October 16, 2018 at the B.G. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Ronald McDonald House.
