Raymond’s Obituary Raymond C. “Chip” Venter, Jr. , 57 of West Hartford Connecticut passed away on Monday, January 7. , 2019 in Hartford Connecticut. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, July 18, 1961, Chip was well known for his skills on the basketball court.

Chip graduated from Bishop Hendricken High School in 1979. He was the Most Valuable Player MVP in the 1979 Rhode Island Class A Schoolboy playoffs when he led Hendricken to its first state basketball championship. He was recruited by Bryant College for the 1979-1980 school year.

Chip had many different jobs throughout his life, including a position as a Tribal Assistant at Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Manchester, Connecticut. Most recently a manager at the Walgreens Distribution Center in Connecticut. He was a member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe.

Chip was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Chip is survived by his daughter Skye Marie Ningret Venter, of Lisbon, Connecticut; his finace Theresa Lawson of Hartford, Connecticut; his parents Raymond and Geraldine “Judy” Venter, Sr. of Wakefield, Rhode Island; sisters Nancy Venter of Atlanta, Georgia, Susan Marie Venter White of Lithonia, Georgia. His niece Sarah Marie Ninigret Jackson, Matthew Solomon Venter, great-nephew Jacobi Jackson all of Atlanta, Georgia; and multiple loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family of Ray Venter, Jr “Chip” would like to express their heartfelt love and appreciation for all the prayers and kind words. Visiting hours will be held at the Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, on Saturday from 12- 1 pm, followed by a service at 1 pm.
