On March 6th Raymond Power Dull passed away at age 80 in his Spring Lake home surrounded by his family. Ray was born in Grand Haven on December 21st 1938 to C.E. and Vera (Power) Dull. He graduated from Grand Haven High School in the class of 1956 where he was involved in many activities, including forming the “Eight Counts” dance band and lettering on the swim team.

Ray graduated from the University of Arizona with a BSEE and a commission in the US Army. In college he worked several jobs, was active in church activities, helped charter a chapter of Delta Tau Delta, and won a varsity letter in swimming. After returning from 3 years of active duty in the Army, Ray got a job at Dresser Crane.

He was promoted to Captain in the USAR in 1965. Ray obtained his PE license in 1969 and received both a BS and an MBA from Western Michigan University. He worked at Clarke Floor Machines, Shaw-Walker, Herman Miller and well past retirement as a consulting engineer.

Ray was an active member of the Spring Lake Presbyterian Church his whole adult life, worshipping, volunteering and also serving as an Elder. He had a lifelong love of sailing, became a sailing instructor in his youth and continued to enjoy it until he could compete and win in the Grand Master Division (for sailors 65 or older). He could be found most summer weekends on Spring Lake racing his MC scow.

He also served as Commodore of the Spring Lake Yacht Club from 1986-87. Avid fishermen, he and his son also shared interests in hunting and forestry. Preceded in death by his parents, Ray is survived by Carol, his wife of 50 years, daughter Jennifer (Christopher) Michaels of Fruitport, son Edward Dull (Diana Garzon) of Spring Lake.

He was a beloved “Papa” to three granddaughters. Ray is also survived by his sister C. Eileen Dull Sherlock of Tucson, AZ, and her children Rob (Kande Williston) and family of Monterey, CA and Shannon J. Neilson and family of Tucson, AZ. Funeral service will be 3:00 PM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev.

Daniel Anderson officiating. Visitation will one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
