Raymond E. Ermlich 90 of Elco, died Friday February 1, 2019 surrounded by family at his home. Born in Allenport on September 16, 1928, a son of Hilbert Edwin and Clara Mae Rindfuss Ermlich. A graduate of Charleroi High School Class of 1947.

For a short time he was employed at the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Allenport Plant. He started working as a lineman at Bell Telephone of PA and retired as an engineer for Verizon. Ray was a US Army veteran having served during the Korean War.

He was a great baseball player and played for the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league. He was a member of the Fayette City Methodist Church and recently the Roscoe Methodist Church. A 60 year member of the American Legion Post #801 Roscoe, Tri County Masonic Lodge #252, Pioneer Club, and Allenport VFD.

He served as a councilman for Fayette City and Elco, President of the Elco Civic Club and past Chairman of the Board of Directors for Mid Mon Valley Pollution Control Authority. Ray is survived by his wife Karen Kennedy Ermlich, 6 children; Dana Rae Baker of Fayette City, Susan E. (Peter) Willis of Jacksonville, FL, David L. (Robin) Scrip Jr. of Monongahela, Kimberly (Michael) Kennedy of Fallowfield Twp. , Kathy (Frank) Barber of Elco and Michelle (John) Masten of N. Huntingdon.

16 grandchildren; Amanda (David) Engel, Shaun (Angela) Baker, Stephanie Baker-Espejo (Jesus) , Ada Willis, Elizabeth (Nathan) Bugbee, Rebecca Scrip, Chad and Zachary Kennedy, Sheena (Rian) Caldwell, Brandon (Chrissy) Barber, Kelly (George) Erdel and Cally, Cody, Olivia and Noah Masten, James R. and Stephen P. Stewart and 14 great-grandchildren; Gabriella, Alexis and Shaun James (SJ) Baker, Marco, Lilly and Jullian Espejo, James Willis, Morgan Bugbee ,Samuel, Grace, Thomas Erdel, Logan, Benjamin and Finn Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara “Bobbie” Stewart. Visitation will be held on Monday February 4, 2019 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the Melenyzer Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, Inc. 1008 Furlong Ave.

Roscoe where funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 5, 2019 at 11:00am with Pastor Jeff Martin presiding. Interment will follow at Monongahela Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard.
