He entered this life on April 24, 1941 in Pampa to James and Fowler Roberson. Ray was a lifelong resident of Pampa and worked for Pampa ISD, a detective for the Pampa Police Department and for the City in Sanitation and Recycling.

He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for nine years as a Mortarman and Marksman. He married his sweetheart, Andre’ Herring on February 22, 1962 in Pampa and enjoyed fifty-seven wonderful years together. Ray had the utmost respect for all life, he was known for his green thumb and would spend as much time as he could in the garden tending to his precious roses.

He was an animal lover and would take in creatures of all kinds to care and love them. Before he was sick, his best friend, Boots the cat, that never left his side and loved him dearly. As his children grew, they remember fondly how many different animals they had from cats to tarantulas to parrots.

Ray was a big family man and loved his kids and grandkids immensely, he put great emphasis on hard work and good values in everything he did and passed that on to his children as well. His tough Russian attitude gave him a spitfire personality that everyone adored, but he also had a gentle and kind side to him. Always the gentleman, he respected women and treated his wife like a queen and taught his sons to do the same.

Ray made friends with everyone he met, his smile could light up a room and he was never too busy to stop what he was doing and show love to his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Home and Garden Network and channeled his craftmanship and could build almost anything he set his mind to. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
