Cannelton, Indiana Raymond “Jug” Simpson, 94, passed away December 17, 2018 at his home. He was born in Tell City, Indiana on February 26, 1924 to the late George and Florence “Virgie” (Mitchell) Simpson. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Helen Houchin and Evelyn Kramer and brother, Gene Simpson.

Jug was a 1943 graduate of Tell City High School and was a WWII Marine veteran. He was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Huck on November 2, 1946. Jug retired in 1986 from Can-Clay Industries after 37 years.

He was a member of American Legion, Harry G. Myers Post 142 and V.F.W. Post 2939. Jug was an avid gardener and he enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and bird watching. Surviving is his wife of 72 years, Dorothy Simpson, Cannelton; his children, Glenda Daum (Jim), Hawesville, KY, Brenda Busick (Jesse), Greenville, KY, Tom Simpson, Tell City, Gary Simpson (Barbara), Cannelton and Judy Flamion (Larry), Troy; a brother, Bernard Simpson, Tell City; grandchildren, Shari Burkhart (Ken), Jeff Daum, Doug Busick (Lisa), Caryn Kincaid (Greg), Brian Simpson (Robin), Traci Fischer (Jeff) and Phillip Flamion (Tessa) and nine great grandchildren.

Services will be private with burial in Cliff Cemetery, Cannelton.
