Obituary for Raymond Marcel Cluet Raymond Marcel Cluet, 96, of Lake Villa, Illinois passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at his home in the company of his wife and children. Raymond was born in Paris, France and later lived in a home his father and mother built in Romainville, a suburb of Paris. He came to the United States in 1949 to begin a new life with his wife Edwige.

He began work as a tailor but soon learned English and trained as a draftsman/designer in the architectural woodwork industry. Raymond had a satisfying career and enjoyed his work until retirement. Upon retirement Raymond and Edwige moved back to France and built a new home in Nimes which he designed and contracted.

Five years later they returned to the US to re-unite with their children and grandchildren. Raymond was recognized by those who knew him for his attention to detail and interest in doing good work with every project he undertook. Raymond was a true do-it-yourselfer with hobbies that included art, furniture building, home designing and home building.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 74 years, Edwige, his son Romain Raymond Cluet and his wife Pamela, his daughter Yolande Edwige Cluet and his grandchildren, Alexander Mark Cluet, Maxwell Raymond Cluet, Anne-Marie Kick and Brendan Craig Kick as well as many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his daughter Chantal, father Raymond Cluet and mother Melanie Cluet. Raymond was a man of true character who treated all with fairness.

As a father he was forever dependable and caring. A visitation and viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Ringa Funeral Home, 122 S. Milwaukee Ave. (Rte 83) in Lake Villa, Illinois.

A funeral service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Cremation will take place privately after the service. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Raymond Marcel Cluet please visit our Sympathy Store.
