Raymond R. “Bob” Fleming, 79, of South Hadley, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. “Bob”, as his family and friends called him, was a kind, generous, soft-spoken man with a great sense of humor. He was born in Holyoke, a son of the late Rouloff and Lucille (Caouette) Fleming and was a graduate of Holyoke Trade High School.

Bob has been employed as a marketing representative for Prospect Builders Inc. of East Longmeadow for many years. He was a Fourth- Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 90 of Holyoke and a communicant of Saint Patrick Parish in South Hadley. Bob loved to vacation and go to sporting events with loved ones and friends.

He was an avid Boston sports fan. If the Red Sox were playing, he was watching. Saturday night dinner and cards with the Narey’s were also a must.

He shined during social events-he had an uncanny propensity to form conversations into friendships. Bob and Kathy took frequent mini-trips to Atlantic City to gamble a little and enjoy each other’s company. He was most proud of the accomplishments of his family.

Bob was a true classic. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen C. (Madden) Fleming; a son James Fleming and wife Debra and two grandchildren, Meghan Provost (Nathan) and Ryan Fleming (Emily), and two great grandsons, Nolan and Logan, all of South Hadley; a brother James Fleming and wife Joan of Holyoke; two sisters: Jeanette Costa and Constance Rock, both of Chicopee, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Boyington and Eileen Boulanger.

The funeral will be held Saturday, December 8th at 9:45 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Patrick Church, 30 Main Street, South Hadley. Burial will be in Saint Jerome Cemetery, Holyoke. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, care of Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston MA 02284-9168.
