All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. –Job 14: 14 REGINALD HENRY SIMS, known to most as “Reggie” or “Red,” was born on November 13, 1922 in Wilmington, Delaware.

He was one of five sons born to the late Irvin Sims and Mabel Marshall Sims. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Seasons Hospice Unit at Christiana Hospital. Reggie graduated from Howard High School.

He enlisted in the military and was a World War II Veteran, who served in the Coast Guard. He was a caterer by trade and co-owned Empire Catering until he retired. Reggie was an avid fisherman.

He also enjoyed listening to jazz, refurbishing furniture, gardening, and spending time with his Monday Club brothers, where he was a member for over 60 years. He was often seen frequenting flea markets, Goodwill, and the dollar store. Reggie was very friendly, witty and sociable.

His favorite line to the ladies was, “You’re pretty, but not prettier than me”. Reggie was the father of the late Reginald Sims, Jr He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Bernadette Sims and Simone Sewell; one brother, Maurice Sims; five grandchildren, Steven Sims, Seandra Sims, Regina Wright, Jamelle Singleton, and Marcus Sewell; two great grandchildren, Corry Wright, Jr. and London Singleton; one special daughter-in-law, Maureta Collins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday February 21, 2019 at 10 am, viewing 8-9:30am Monday Club ceremony, 9:30 am, Mother UAME Church 701 E. 5th Street Wilmington, DE 19801. Interment, Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
