Reta “June” Bright age 86 of Webster Springs passed away July 9, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston. June was born June 21, 1932 in Webster Springs and was the daughter of the late Theodore Clay and Delva Ware House. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her loving husband June Dencil Bright, brother, Retis House and sisters Christine McCroskey, Maxine Roby and Annie Wolfe.

June was a graduate of the Webster Springs High School and after high school attended the Fairmont Business College. She was business manager for White Chevrolet in Webster Springs for 42 years. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Webster Springs, taking membership on October 12, 1947.

While a member of the church June had many roles in the church, she was a member of the choir, Sunday School teacher, church historian and was a member of the Lady’s Circle. She served on the Appalachian Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board for many years representing Webster County Senior Citizens. June was a member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, member and officer of the Webster Springs Senior Citizens Outpost and was on the Webster County Senior Citizens Board of Directors for many years.

She served as Senator on the Silver Haired Legislature. In 2009 June was presented by the West Virginia Bureau of Senior Services with the “The Robert W. Bob Jackson Distinguished Service Award”; for generously volunteering time and energy to improve the lives of older West Virginians. June was also a member of the Daughter of the American Revolution.

June loved photography, children, her dogs, flowers, wildlife and researching ancestry. June and June also served as foster parents to several children through the years. June is survived by her son, James Bright and his wife Dinah; grandchildren, Richard Bright and his fiancé Reva Woods, Bradley Bright and his fiancé Samantha Foster; great grandchildren, Brent Bright, Aiden Hamrick and Lily Bright; sister, Doris Lemley and her husband Larry, sister in law, Betty House; also surviving are several nieces and nephews and many other extended family members.

Service will be 3:00 PM Saturday June 14, 2018 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs with Rev. Steve White officiating. Burial will follow at Big Run Cemetery, Diana.
