OBITUARY Reuben T. “Speck” Sherrill November 12, 1933 – October 29, 2018 Graveside services to honor the life of Reuben T. “Spec” Sherrill, 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, at Old Athens Cemetery, Athens, LA officiated by Bro. Jeff Hoffman. The family will receive guests on Thursday evening, November 1, 2018, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Arcadia, Arcadia, LA.

Spec was born on November 12, 1933, in Athens, LA and passed away on the evening of October 29, 2018. He was an extraordinary man of many talents. Spec served his country as a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a Louisiana State Trooper.

He taught concealed weapon classes, shot competitively,did exhibition shooting, and owned and operated Spec Sherrill’s Shooting School. Spec was also owner and operator of “On Mayhaw Hill” where he grafted trees, harvested Mayhaws, and made jellies. In addition to all of this, he was also in charge of the Alabama Community Water System.

Another hobby of Spec’s was woodworking and making duck calls, all of which he excelled. Spec is survived by his daughter, Janet Louis and husband Al; sister, Avalyn Harper and husband Bob; nephew and niece, Kerry Harper, and Anna Harper Reehm and husband Clark; great-nephew, Ash Reehm; and very special friend, Charlotte Crawford. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the wonderful sitters who tirelessly took care of Spec, Juanita Billard, Rhonda Duty, Gabrielle Robertson, and Anne Law.
