Obituary for Rev. Wayne Cole Rev. Gerald Wayne Cole, 66, passed away July 25, 2018.

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, son of the late Marvin Reid and Hazeline Cathey Cole, he happily retired in March 2017. He had served as Pastor at Crocker Presbyterian Church, Associate Youth Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, Campus Minister at Furman University and most recently had served as an Associate Pastor for First Presbyterian Church of Greer. He served as a member of the Foothills Presbytery from 1982 through retirement.

While his primary interest was always serving in the church, he also thoroughly enjoyed music, bad puns, golf and trivial facts. He was a generous, kind hearted, selfless man with a youthful spirit and phenomenal sense of humor. He loved mentoring and caring for others and often used his humor and love of music to connect with others.

He truly made a profound mark on countless lives. Surviving are his wife, Susie J. Cole of the home; two daughters, Bethany Cole Funk (Alex) of Middletown, Delaware and Michelle Cole Stairs (Jason) of Madison, Mississippi; a brother, Nelson Cole of Reidsville, North Carolina; a sister, Carolyn Gheesling of Charlotte, North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Emma Funk, David Funk, Hazel Stairs and Evelyn Stairs. A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Greer, conducted by Dr. Brandi Casto-Waters and Rev.

Ansley Paige. Visitation will be held 1:00-2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church. The family is at the home.
