Granvil Kendall Shawyer, devoted servant of God and Bishop in the Church of God of Cleveland, Tennessee; United States Army WWII Veteran; son of the late Julian and Lottie Mae Shawyer; beloved husband of Vickie Shawyer nee Jones and the late Marion Shawyer nee Boward; devoted father of Steven L. Shawyer and wife Jeanne, Kendall G. Shawyer and wife Ellen, Sylvia Deane Smith and husband Johnny, Susan M. Goldsmith and husband Steven, Rev. Tim W. Shawyer and wife Sandra, Doreen S. Hozeny and husband Alan, Rebecca Ann Dembo and husband Lawrence, Rev.

David Lee Shawyer and wife Wanda; step daughters, Kimberly Nowell and husband Clarence, Kelly Brady and husband Mark; cherished grandfather of 23; also survived by numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; dear brother of the late Austin, Hilbert, Glenn, Margaret, Agatha, Leland and Marie Shawyer. Family and friends will honor Reverend Shawyer at the family owned Evans Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services-8800 Harford Road on Wednesday, May 8 from 3-5 and 7-9pm and on Thursday, May 9 at Lansdowne Worship Center (Church of God), 2130 Smith Avenue from 10:00-10:45 AM with a funeral service to begin at 11AM. Internment at the Baltimore National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Reverend Shawyer’s name may be made to the Smokey Mountain Children’s Home at 449 McCarn Circle, Sevierville, TN 37862. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”.
