Obituary Service Details Richard A. Lincoln, 79, of Old Orchard Beach, died Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born May 4, 1938 in Brockton, MA a son of John D. and Louise E. (Dugas) Lincoln. Richard was educated in the Brockton, MA school system and served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard for six years after high school, then received an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice.

He went on to serve 39 years in law enforcement. He served on the Brockton, MA police department before moving to Maine. After moving to Maine he served as Deputy Sheriff for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department and then as a Lieutenant on the police force at the University of Southern Maine.

Richard took special pride in mentoring students during their first years away from home; providing firm guidance with a caring touch. While at USM he also worked as a Loss Prevention & Facilities Manager at Sears in South Portland. As a young man Richard played the Spanish guitar, and held a private pilot’s license.

He enjoyed swimming, walking, gardening and traveling with his wife. A skilled craftsman, he could be found doing repairs and projects for family and friends. He was very involved with his family and enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by a brother, Major. Robert F. Lincoln and a son, Scott Lincoln. Richard is survived by his wife Virginia E. Lincoln; sister in-law Ardell Starke and brother in-law William Lewis.

He also leaves his children: Deborah J. Lincoln of Westbrook Timothy F. Lincoln and wife of Joa of Abingdon, MD Tina M. Lincoln of Nashua, NH Robyn I. Chretien and her husband Glenn of Biddeford P. Joseph Rando Jr. of Vermont and Laura E. Rando of Putnam, CT 8 Grandchildren: Allen Lincoln, Danielle Bednez, Joshua Rando, Morgan Laflamme, Colin Lincoln, Kendall Lincoln, Andrew Lincoln, Kyra Lincoln, 2 great-grandchildren and 3 nieces. Family and friends will gather at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Biddeford on Friday, May 4th. on his eightieth birthday.

A celebration of life will follow, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Cider Hill Community Center, 2 Cider Hill Drive, Old Orchard Beach. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St. Biddeford, ME 04005. To share condolences online, please visit www.
