Di Rienzo, 73, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at home with his family by his side. Born in Shamokin Hospital on January 20, 1946 he was the son of the late Pasquale and Josephine (Jellen) Di Rienzo and the step son of the late Rose Di Rienzo of Atlas. He worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and in the construction field.

During that time, he met the love of his life, Eleanor (Witkoski) which produced two children, they were married in 1974 in St. Casmir’s Church, Kulpmont. He was a 1964 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. He entered the U.S. Army on September 14, 1964 and was honorably discharged on September 13, 1967, attaining the rank of Specialist Four.

He was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, he also was a Life Member of the Atlas Fire Company and Atlas Legion. In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by his two children: daughter, Dr. Christine Di Rienzo and her husband William Rogers with their children, Avery Grace and Harrison Grant Rogers; son, Dr. Stephen Di Rienzo and his wife, Jennifer Gryzbowski. Survivors include aunt, Gertrude Glowacki and her husband Raymond; a half-sister, Dr. Rosalinda Di Rienzo and her husband, Robert Canfield with their children Robert and Patrick Canfield; a step-sister, Mrs. Marion Myers and her husband, Donald with their child, Donald and his wife, Shannon and their daughter, Sarah; a step brother, Lawrence D’Angelo and his wife, Elizabeth; his nephew, Robert Di Rienzo and his wife, Karen with their children, Ryan, Andrew, and Dana; nephew Gregory Di Rienzo and his wife, Sherry; nephew, Pat Di Rienzo and his wife, Darlene with their children, Jake and Tyler with his wife Colette, niece Melissa and her husband, Dan Holderman with her children Taylor Tobias and Peyton Shurock; a brother-in-law, Jerome Witkoski and companion Alexis.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Pasquale, Francis and Robert. FUNERAL NOTICE Richard C. Di Rienzo, 73, of Marion Heights – Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mount Carmel with Father Ryan Fischer, officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg.

Visitation will be held Friday morning from 9:30 – 10:45 with Transferal Prayers at 10:00 in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc., 27 North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, Supervisor.
