Obituary for Richard “Dick” Cadic His pitch-perfect whistle was his trademark. Richard “Dick” Cadic, passed away on November 9th surrounded by his loving family at the age of 91 at the St. Lucie Hospice House. Loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and devoted dog lover, he was the youngest of six siblings, born on January 21, 1927 in New Brunswick, NJ, to Rene Cadic and Mary O’Connell.

In 1946, he met the love of his life, Frances Baumgartner, at a New Year’s Eve party. He asked “his Fran” to teach him how to dance, she took his hand—and for 69 years—the two never let go. Over his lifetime, he lived throughout New Jersey and retired to Big Pine Key and Port Saint Lucie, FL.

He served as a Tech-3 Sergeant in telegraphing in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked for Coca Cola for 33 years. He is survived by his wife, Frances, his three children Sue (Skip), Lou (Nita) and Clay, four grandchildren Shawn Belle, Morgie, Pat and E. Kathleen and his seven great grandchildren Taylor, Finley, Jack, Lily, Renny Lou, Hogan and Daphne. His wonderful life will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13 at Yates Funeral Home, Port St. Lucie from 1-3 p.m., and he will be laid to rest at South Florida National Cemetery.
