Obituary for Richard “Dick” H. Fischer Richard “Dick” H. Fischer, born April 5, 1936, in Kokomo, Indiana, to Grant and Jayne (Harmon) Fischer. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family and the care of Hillside Terrace Retirement in Ann Arbor, MI, on June 20, 2018. He was 82.

Dick graduated from University High School (Ann Arbor) in 1954, where he was a star athlete in basketball and football. He then went to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After he worked for several years as management in the auto industry, he went to Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in management in 1985.

Dick retired as a facilities manager at the County Government after 25 years. In Dick’s spare time, he served on the Dexter school board, a member of the Dexter Kiwanis club, participating in many of their events, a Junior Achievement leader (Ann Arbor), a member of his church (Calvary United Methodist Church, Ann Arbor, MI), serving on their board and committees. He also participated in Habitat for Humanity as well for a couple of builds.

Hobbies included, golfing, spending time at the lake with others, teaching his children, friends, and neighbors how to water ski. Dick was a dedicated husband, father, and friend, especially to his loving wife Patricia “Pat” who he helped care for the past 10 years. Dick met Pat about 37 years ago and married on July 12, 1981.

Richard is survived by his wife, Patricia (Winney) Fischer, his children: Mike (Cynthia) Fischer, Mary (Ronald) Cooper, Ann (Kevin) Aven, a very special grandniece Kristine Ignacio and a very special grandnephew Jason Eyestone, which he helped care for a number of years, 7 grandchildren: Sarah Tanis, Jennifer Gallaway, Aimee Cooper, Erin Cooper, Logan Aven, Jacon Aven, and Griffin Aven, one great-grand child, his sister-in-law Phyllis Fischer, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Jayne Fischer, former wife and mother of his children, Rita (Walsh) Fischer, his brothers; David Fischer and Daniel Fischer. The family of Richard H. Fischer would like to send a special thanks for the care and dedication that Hillside Terrace of Ann Arbor his given Dick and Pat for the past years.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions can be in honor of Richard H. Fischer to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association Foundation.
