Obituary for Douglas Glover Doug 87, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Doug was born July 19, 1930 in Ecorse Mi. to loving parents; Talbot and Anna Glover and was raised in Monroe, Mi.
with his siblings; Margie and Bob. Doug attended Michigan Tech University where he met his future wife, Helen Kestner. Doug and Helen married in 1952 and have spent 65 wonderful years together.
Upon graduation, they spent two years in France where Doug was stationed while serving in the U.S. Air Force. Doug’s career as a Research Metallurgist started in Toledo Ohio with Continental Aviation. In 1969 Doug took a position with Federal Mogul in Detroit and two years later moved to Ann Arbor to oversee the Research Lab.
Doug continued his career in research engineering for NTN-Bower where he retired in 1992. Doug enjoyed many activities including sailing, gardening, woodworking, investing, golfing, cooking and inventing. His favorite project was building the U.P. cottage with his four sons.
Upon retirement Doug and Helen moved to Suttons Bay in the Traverse City area where the family would gather for vacations and holidays. Doug and Helen enjoyed traveling, however, their greatest joy was spending fun times with their family. When Doug developed health problems in 2013, they moved back to Ann Arbor to be near family.
With the support of his loving wife and family, Doug spent his final years a happy, content, loved man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Doug is survived by his wife, Helen; children: Bill (Cinda) of Kensington, MD; David (Margaret) of Ann Arbor; and Tom of Ann Arbor; his grandchildren; Kristen, Kathryn, Christopher, Tyson, Allie and Patty, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his eldest son, Jim, his parents, brother and sister. Visitation is set for Saturday, June16, from 2-4 PM at the Nie Funeral Home. 2400 Carpenter Road Ann Arbor, Mi.
